Lower Manhattan is one of the most historic districts in the United States. Around every corner and behind every doorway stands some tangible reminder of a rich and colorful history that dates back to our nation's founding.
To celebrate these symbols of the past and gateways to Lower Manhattan's ever-evolving future, the Alliance for Downtown New York, Lower Manhattan's Business Improvement District, has created a beautiful photographic essay featuring 19 unique, historic and ornate doorways located throughout Lower Manhattan.
In addition to celebrating Lower Manhattan's rich history, this photo essay is also the basis for an exciting contest that rewards the lucky winner with a fabulous day of shopping, sightseeing and dining in Lower Manhattan!
