Dine Around Downtown 2020

A MESSAGE ABOUT DINE AROUND DOWNTOWN

Dear Friends,

Due to the evolving COVID-19 crisis, this year’s Dine Around Downtown original date of May 19th is no longer feasible.  We recognize how critical your business is to the life of Lower Manhattan and we promise you that Dine Around will return just as soon as it can with a special urgency and increased visibility.  When we will be able to stage the event is clearly a moving target but rest assured we will do so as soon as possible after public health officials deem it safe for New Yorkers to congregate in larger crowds.

Once a new event date is confirmed, we are restructuring the enrollment process to be as flexible as possible to accommodate your participation.

We will announce plans and resend the application invitation as soon as information becomes available. If you have already submitted your application, it will be honored.

The enrollment process will now provide for a relaxed application due date - to the absolute greatest extent that a new production schedule allows. We hope that this will enable each of you to address any specific challenges you may encounter, while reopening and restaffing your team. When you are ready to join, we want to be ready for you.

Additionally, when we stage the event next we will be waiving the $450 participation fee for all restaurants. If you have submitted your participation fee, it will be refunded to you as soon as business operations allow and we will reach out directly to you at that time.

In the meantime, we would like to share an opportunity to help you bring in some much needed cash at this time.  If you are interested and have the capacity to sell dining certificates, there is a new initiative dedicated to listing and promoting all restaurants who sign up to offer value-added gift certificates. You can learn more by going to their website (https://supportrestaurants.org/

Also, the NYC Department of Small Business Services has made available their pre-application for the NYC Small Business Continuity Loan Fund, which will help determine your eligibility. The published criteria for eligibility is as follows:

“Businesses with fewer than 100 employees who have seen sales decreases of 25% or more will be eligible for zero interest loans of up to $75,000 to help retain employees and ensure business continuity. The loan can be deployed for a variety of uses, including working capital, inventory, or other investments,”

If you have questions about eligibility requirements please email the NYC Department of Small Business Services at Covid19biz@sbs.nyc.gov

The Small Business Administration has also deemed Coronavirus a disaster that is eligible for Disaster Loan Assistance - please visit https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/ for more information.

And like all of you, we are eager to see what funding will become available to businesses such as yours from the Federal stimulus package being put together presently. We will share guidance on that in the coming days.

We hope you all are taking good care and finding the personal and professional support you need during this uncertain time. We, and the entire Downtown Alliance team, will continue to share information with you here, and through our other platforms, as we navigate these unchartered waters together.

As always, please feel free to contact us with any questions at dinearounddowntown@downtownny.com

Stay safe and stay well.

Yours in solidarity,

The Dine Around Downtown Team

The Downtown Alliance’s 19th annual Dine Around Downtown will return to Fosun Plaza (formerly 28 Liberty Plaza) at a date to be determined. The Dine Around Downtown community food festival brings together some of the finest culinary establishments in Lower Manhattan, drawing over 15,000 guests to sample signature menu items between $3 and $7 from participating restaurants. It is open to the public, and admission is free. This event is made possible, in part, by the generosity of our co-presenting host sponsor Fosun and the sponsorship support of BikeRent.NYC and Seaport District NYC. Check back here for more details on participating restaurants!
