After walking to Saint Paul’s Chapel from the Indigenous People presentation of Travelin' Home at the National Museum of the American Indian at 3pm, up the Lanape trail now known as Broadway past Trinity Church – hear the interesting connection of Trinity’s North Churchyard and the African Burial Grounds which had gone completely forgotten until October 1991 during excavation for the construction of a new federal office building at Duane and Elk streets here in Lower Manhattan. Following a brief discussion on the topic, baritone Stephen Salters presents a recital of spirituals that could have been sung by these forgotten people, and works that emerged from them.
