Lower Manhattan Food Celebration Kicks Off on Tuesday with 18th Annual Dine Around Downtown Festival on May 21; Continues with Weekly Get Low Dining Deals All Summer Long
The Alliance for Downtown New York is celebrating the food scene in Lower Manhattan by making it easier to try dozens of established and new local restaurants this Summer. The celebration kicks off with the 18th annual Dine Around Downtown lunchtime festival at Fosun's landmarked plaza at 28 Liberty on May 21, 11a-3p, and continues with the summer-long Get Low promotion, which offers 20 percent off dinner for two at a different restaurant every week.
Dine Around Downtown is Lower Manhattan's premier tasting event that brings together dozens of restaurants with plates from $3-7. The event is complemented by live music from The National Jazz Museum in Harlem All-Stars. Participants are encouraged to post photos of their plates on Instagram and tag them with #DownIsWhatsUp for a chance to win a staycation in Lower Manhattan. The prize includes a two-night stay at The Beekman and dinner for two at Temple Court.
And, as part of the Alliance's commitment to a sustainable Lower Manhattan, Dine Around will be a zero waste event this year. There will be composting/recycling stations located throughout the plaza and each station will be staffed by educators to help advise on proper waste diversion and other zero waste programs available throughout the neighborhood.
Get Low builds off the momentum of this festival to offer dining discounts all summer long. Each week a different participating restaurant will offer 20% off dinner for two. The program kicks off with Mad Dog & Beans on Tuesday, May 28 and includes first-time participants Crown Shy, Temple Court, 10 Corso Como, Cobble & Co and Blue Park Kitchen this year.
