Re:Construction | Downtown Alliance

In 2007, the Downtown Alliance started a groundbreaking initiative that recast construction barriers as large-scale canvases for temporary public art. From 2007-2013, the program unveiled nearly 40 works of art amid the hustle and bustle of fast-changing Lower Manhattan.  Lower Manhattan's sidewalks became more user-friendly, its streetscape more scenic, and thought-provoking and delightful art was integrated into the pedestrian experience.  Click here for more info on this publication that chronicles its history and to view our official press release.
